Obergurgl Summer on Rewriting – OSR 2023 – August 20 – 26, 2023
Introduction
This site provides information for OSR 2023, a combined event of
three workshops that will be conducted at the
Obergurgl University
Center of the University of Innsbruck from August 20 until August 26,
2023.
We envision a friendly atmosphere during the meeting, which enables fruitful exchanges leading to joint research and subsequent publications.
Meetings
OSR 2023 consists of the following three events:

Please keep the following facts in mind when registering:
- The early registration deadline is July 15.
- The registration fee includes accommodation with full board
- The student fee is based on double occupancy; in the registration form you can indicate a preferred roommate.
- Proof of student status must be uploaded during registration.
- Registration for ARI + IWC + WST is only possible for ARI project members.
- Participants are expected to arrive in the afternoon before the first day of the starting event (August 20 for ARI, August 22 for IWC, August 23 for WST).
- Departure is in the morning after the last day of the final event.
- The form allows for the registration of accompanying persons.
- Special requests concerning the invoice can be entered in the comments field.
Travel Guide to Obergurgl
Innsbruck Airport to Main Station
- Exit the Airport: After arriving at Innsbruck Airport, follow the signs to the terminal exit. The airport is relatively compact, and the exit is easily accessible.
- Public Bus: Walk to the nearby bus stop located outside the airport terminal. Look for the bus stop signs or ask airport staff for directions. The bus line ”F” (F Bus) operates between Innsbruck Airport and the Innsbruck Main Station. The bus ride takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Link Google Maps
- Purchase Ticket: Before boarding the bus, make sure to purchase a valid ticket. We recommend buying a single ticket (one-way ticket) from Innsbruck Airport to Obergurgl Festkoglbahn for 18.80 EUR via tickets.vvt.at. The price includes the bus ride from Innsbruck airport to Innsbruck main station, the train ride from Innsbruck main station to Ötztal station (Ötztal Bahnhof) and the bus ticket from Ötztal station to Obergurgl.
You can also buy tickets from the ticket machines at the bus stop or directly from the bus driver. Remember to validate your ticket if required. - Board the Bus: The bus will drop you off at Innsbruck Main Station (Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof).
Innsbruck Main Station to Obergrugl
- Train: Start by taking a train from Innsbruck to Ötztal Bahnhof. The train journey offers scenic views of the Austrian Alps. You can check the train schedules and book tickets on the ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways) website or app. Link Google Maps
- Bus or Taxi: From Ötztal Bahnhof, you’ll need to take a bus or a taxi to Obergurgl. Buses are a convenient and cost-effective option. There are regular bus services connecting Ötztal Bahnhof to Obergurgl. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance.
- Enjoy the Scenic Ride: The bus ride from Ötztal Bahnhof to Obergurgl is a beautiful journey through picturesque Alpine landscapes. You’ll have the opportunity to take in stunning mountain views along the way. Arrival at Obergurgl, the bus will drop you off.
Obergurgl to the Conference Center
- Bus or Taxi: Once you arrive at the last bus stop in Obergurgl, exit the bus and gather your belongings. Orientation: Take a moment to orient yourself. Look for any signs, landmarks, or information boards that might indicate the direction to the University Center Obergurgl. If there are no obvious signs, you can also ask locals or any available personnel for directions.
- Head East: If facing the front of the bus (the direction it was traveling), the University Center Obergurgl is located to the east. Start walking in the eastward direction.
- Follow the Road: Walk along the road in the direction of the University Center. Pay attention to any signs or markers that might guide you.
- Use a Map or Navigation App: If you have a map or a navigation app on your smartphone, you can use it to ensure you’re heading in the right direction. Input ”University Center Obergurgl” as your destination to receive step-by-step directions. Link Google Maps
- Arrival at University Center Obergurgl: Continue walking until you reach the University Center Obergurgl. It might be a good idea to keep an eye out for any signage specific to the center that might confirm you’re on the right track.
- Ask for Help: If you’re unsure at any point, don’t hesitate to ask locals or anyone you encounter for directions. People are often happy to assist visitors.
- Remember to wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather, especially if you’re walking outside.
