Lecture and proseminar testing
Exam for the lecture
The 1st exam (for the lecture) takes place in the last week of the semester
(last week of January 2021), Wednesday January 27th. The 2nd exam takes place in the last week of
the winter break (last week of February 2021), Wednesday February 24th, 12:15 - 14:00 (registration until the 22nd, 23:59). Both these will be virtual.
The 3rd exam takes place in the last week of the summer break (a week before the new semester starts), Friday September 24th, 12:15 - 14:00 (registration until the 10th of September, 23:59).
The 1st exam was conducted online via OLAT during the last lecture slot (January 27th, 12:15-14:00). That is, you will have 1 hour 45 minutes for the exam. From 12:00 you will have access to the logistic details (statement). You can upload your written/scanned solutions until 14:10 (in the same way as for the PS in the available folder). The exam is open book, that is, you may use the course material, write programs, etc, but you will have to motivate/explain all your answers (there will be no multiple choice questions). The 2nd exam was conducted in the same way. Also, the 3rd exam will be conducted in the same way (to make it comparable to the other exams). The exams will be based on the material as presented in the lectures/available on the slides, and practised in the PS. Bonus exercises can be on material related to the lectures but not completely covered.
Algorith for computing proseminar grades
The grade for the proseminar will be based on the following two factors
- Percentage of handed in (OLAT) exercises
- Participation in the PS, in particular oral explanation of and answers to questions on your handed in solutions
Every PS there will be 3 exercises (and potentially some bonus exercises) to be handed in (in OLAT) before midnight (CEST) before the PS. Your grade will be determined by the best 11 (out of the scheduled 13) exercise sheets. To pass the PS (grade not 5) at least 50% of the exercises should have been handed in (the denominator for calculating the percentage is 11 times 3, i.e. 33, so you need at least 17 exercises on your best 11 sheets). Since participation is mandatory, you cannot be absent from the PSs more than twice without excuse (excuses are to be given before the start of the corresponding PS, so that the PS instructor can take appropriate action).
