Bowls and beans

Suppose to have a finite number of beans in an infinite array of bowls. Does repeatedly moving one bean to the left and one to the right for bowls containing at least two beans terminate? (Puzzle suggested amenable to a rewriting approach by Izak van Langevelde.)
