MIP PhD Seminar

PhD program

SE2  WS 2019/2020  703900

Description

The MIP PhD Seminar is organised as a multi-disciplinary seminar at the School of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics (MIP). The main motivation is to provide a forum in which PhD students of the three domains learn how to present their research work and their main contributions to scientists in other fields.

Thus we go one step beyond practicing research talks and presentation skills: We not only require each attendee to prepare a presentation outlining the challenges to be solved in his or her PhD work, but also to introduce the key research problem and the state of the art in a way that is easy to comprehend and to follow by non-specialists in the area of natural sciences.

Participation is mandatory in all PhD programs at the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics.

Format

This PhD course will be held in English and all the course material is available in English.

Participants are graded for presentation and interaction with the audience. Slides and videos of presentation are provided online.
