Depending on the number of students, the seminar takes place every week. The first meeting (October 2) gives an introduction to the seminar and mentions administrative details. Furthermore the dates of presentations will be fixed.
Registration
Please register online before September 20, 25:59.
Requirement
Attendance is only possibly, if the "Application for the Dissertation" has been submitted and there exists a "Doctoral Thesis Agreement" between you and your supervisors. Participation of (at least one of) your supervisors is requested.
Seminar Talks
Each talk has to combine three parts:
- introduction to the problem,
- presentation of the methodology and
- showcase of (early) results.
Make sure that the first parts is easily accessible to everybody in the audience and that everybody believes he or she has understood the second part. Only in the last part you may show off.
Each presentation must not last longer than 20 minutes (sharp, no extensions), leaving 10 minutes for discussions and comments.
Pre-Meeting
Rehearse your talk with your advisor. Test your laptop in the lecture room; time for setup problems is taken from your 20 minutes. If necessary you may discuss the slides one week before talk with one of us (please schedule an appointment).
Send the slides (PDF) on Monday 10 am before the talk.
Feedback
After the public discussion, we will provide (private) feedback on the presentation to the speaker(s). Furthermore the talks will be recorded and you can access your presentation via OLAT.
